Originally from New Ulm, Joel is excited to be back in Southcentral
Minnesota!

"It feels great to be back in the southern Minnesota," he said.

After high school, Joel completed his baccalaureate degree at the University
of Minnesota Duluth in Communication.

It was here in Mankato where Joel got his first taste of
television—interning at KEYC after his junior year of college. During his
collegiate senior year, Joel completed two more academic TV internships at
KBJR in Duluth, MN. Upon graduation, Joel was hired full-time as reporter at
KBJR and worked there for about 2 years.

After leaving the business to work as an apprentice powerlineman, Joel
realized he missed reporting too much, and decided to make a comeback.

"Returning to TV news was definitely the right move," said Joel. "It made me
realize what I missed and how exciting this career is. No two days are ever
the same, and that's what intrigues me."

Aside from his reporting duties, Joel anchors on the weekends. Feel
free to contact him anytime with any story ideas.
