Despite the dreary weather this morning people were walking to raise funds and awareness for Arthritis.

The southern lakes Arthritis walk takes place each year at Spring lake park in North Mankato. The event is to raise awareness about Arthritis, an ailment that affect 1 in 5 people, including children. It's known as the number one cause of disability in the United States.

This year's Arthritis Walk Honoree is Kris Nordgren, a woman living with rheumatoid arthritis.

Kris Nordgren says, "I'm doing whatever I can to continue to educate myself and share what I learn with others. Help fight the fight and raise the funds so we can continue to do research because that's much needed."

There is no known cause for arthritis or cure. For some people it can be treated with medication. Doctors advise you walk at least 30 minutes a day if you have arthritis.
