MANKATO, Minn. -

For thousands of College students in Mankato, the real world is now here.

At Minnesota State University Mankato around 1,500 graduates received their diplomas today in three different commencement ceremonies. It was a proud day for students and parents, especially one proud mom with two daughters graduating today.

Terri Wickstrom said, "Very emotional. For a long time I thought this day was never coming, and not it is hear, it's real.  I'm very proud of both of them.

Not only was it a big day for students, MSU alums Al and Cathy Annexstad were presented with prestigious honorary doctorate degrees for their contributions to the university and community.

MSU has only awarded five honorary degrees throughout its history.
