Former KEYC-TV intern, Courtney Johns, couldn't wait to come back to KEYC-TV, as its newest reporter. During her last semester of school, she drove down to Mankato four days a week from the Twin Cities. It may have been her fifth internship, but it was by far her favorite. Her internship background ranged from reality television, to hip-hop radio, to finance.

She studied journalism, communication studies, and acting at the University of Minnesota. While attending the school, she was the publications coordinator for her sorority and president of the University's broadcast club, U Broadcast. She also hosted various online shows, live events, and two radio shows.

It's hard to believe this chatty reporter once dreaded public speaking. To cure her phobia, she started competing in pageants. In fact, her first visit to Mankato was for a pageant. The pageant gave her an opportunity to face the one thing she feared more than public speaking, singing.

"I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket," she laughed.

Despite her lack of musical ability she managed to walk away with a few awards including, Miss Congeniality.

She is thrilled to join the news team, and make Mankato her new home. She looks forward to getting to know the community and making new friends. Feel free to shoot her an email if you have any story ideas, questions, or just want to say hello!
