A merger in the candy industry will result in the closing of an area plant. Farley's & Sathers and Ferrara Pan Candy Company, have joined to create a new company.

A statement sent to KEYC, says the headquarters of the new Ferrara Candy Company will be in Chicago, Illinois. The Round Lake facility will be closed in a 'phased' process beginning this summer through the spring of 2013. The statement includes a promise to provide "assistance to ease the transition for those affected; including providing severance, outplacement services and internal opportunities. "

Sather Trucking Company and another facility at Cummings Road in Chattanooga,  Tennessee, will also close by the fall of 2012.
