MANKATO , MINN. -

Corps are here in Mankato, getting ready for Thunder of Drums Tuesday. Many are practicing at Mankato East High School.

One of the groups called the "Blue Stars" came in early this morning and have been practicing all day out on the football fields. Director Russell Gavin says if you take what you know about marching bands and multiply it by a hundred, you have the Thunder of Drums. "We will have about 200 to 250 of those kinds of moves and we have all kinds of staging and props and guard members who basically fill the role of actors so it's basically a total production that resembles a marching band. Its definitely high detail and high energy and very advanced stuff."

The showcase will be held at Minnesota State University on Blakeslee Field. It begins at 6:30 Tuesday night with performances by the 77 Lancers, St. Peter, and Waconia Marching Bands. The drum corps competition starts at 7.
