Corn Well Over Knee High By 4th of July

HENDERSON, Minn. -

The fourth of July historically has been a measuring stick to judge the quality of the corn crop.

With the holiday right around the corner some corn is already tassling.

Harvey Jahn of Henderson has been watching corn grow near his home for years and says despite some hail and wind damage, the corn is ahead of schedule.

Rural Henderson resident Harvey Jahn says, "Years ago when I grew up they used to say if it is knee high by fourth of July you are doing good well now it is three times as high as it use to be."

Across the state the average height of corn is 49 inches, that's 27 inches higher than this time last year.
