Organizers were getting everything ready for tonight's big events at Wheeler Park in North Mankato this afternoon.
The fun began Thursday at 6 p.m. with opening the carnival rides, the beer garden, and a performance from the band Hitchville at 7 p.m.
Event coordinator Denny Kemp says one of the best things about this event is the family friendly environment.
Kemp says, "People know what to do. The community is such, that parents feel very comfortable about bringing their children down and letting their children loose. Which is really neat! It's part of what we're not used to in communities our size. And it's something that makes us very proud."
