If you've ever had a hard time getting into the bed of your pickup truck a man in Lafayette may have a solution for you. It's called 'My Dream Steps.'
So many people have trucks these days because they're so easy to carry things around. What's not so easy is getting up in them. You've got to crawl up there and it can be kind of a pain. That's when Myron Isaacson got the idea to do something about it.
Myron Isaacson says, 'Pickups are getting higher are the time, taller on the end gate, and my short little legs couldn't make it up there. So I made something to get up there. So I made a little step ladder."
It's called 'My Dream Steps', a device that pulls out of the side of the lift gate on your truck and folds open to create two extra steps on your way up or down.
"I know the Ford Company makes one that comes straight out the back but because I'm always pulling trailers I needed one that comes out the side."
So Isaacson got to work right here at his in Lafayette and 'My Dream Steps' was created. The patent followed soon after, along with the recognition.
"There was six of us that got gold medallions. So I was one of the six."
He took home the Gold at this year's Minnesota Inventors Congress but it's not his first time. Two years ago he won Silver for 'My Dream Chair.'
"I invented a fishing chair for spearing so you can lay over the actual spearing hole."
Isaacson says inventing things is a hobby for him and he hopes others can benefit from it. That's something to look forward to because who knows what he'll dream up next.
Isaacson hasn't yet come up with a price for the 'My Dream Steps.' He is working on an aluminum version that should be ready next week.
