LE CENTER, Minn. -
A court date is set for a group of citizens suing the city of LeSueur.
At issue is a proposed plant that would turn silage and food waste into electricity. Because of the projects' potential for noise and adverse health effects – a group of citizens wanted city leaders to amend its ordinance relating to public nuisance liability, before approving the project. The group claims a petition signed by more than a quarter of the town's residents was ignored. They're suing to force the city to follow its own Charter... which in this case would allow city residents to vote on the proposed ordinance.
Arguments will take place in a LeSueur county courtroom August 31st.
