A deadly start for motorcyclists in July has pushed the preliminary rider death count to 25. That number is well ahead of the pace set by this time last year, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

DPS officials say the increase could be due to record-high numbers of motorcyclists on Minnesota roads and early summer-like weather - resulting in an early start for riders on the roads.
