Bevcomm Gives Free Student Supplies Pack & Maybe $100,000

Posted: Updated:

Students in The United South Central School District could have something extra to look forward to this school year... $100,000 in new technology.

The money is promised by Bevcomm, a local telephone and ISP company... but it's contingent upon a referendum passing this fall.

The referendum asks citizens in the district to pay an additional $184 per year on a $100,000 home.

Bevcomm hopes the referendum passes so students can have access to new technology.

Jake Anderson says, "We feel today's kids going through school are going to have such an advantage if they're using the latest and greatest technology and they can bring that to the businesses they go to work for. Or ideally come back to businesses in our area and using the technology that's available here."

Even if the referendum doesn't pass kids will still be getting something from bevcomm. They have created 2,500 school supply packs that kids entering K through 5 can pick up at their office in Blue Earth for free.
