The Gosen family donated 29 apple trees to FarmAmerica, with nearly 10 different types of apples. The family has a long history with FarmAmerica. They donated the trees because they thought the story of apple–growing was under–represented in an area known for corn and soybeans. The orchard shows the evolution of growing practices from as far back as the 1850s. Dorothy Redding says, "Oh I hope they appreciate the different varieties and many of the varieties are even 200 years old are still being used and eating today."

Redding was one of 12 kids raised on the Gosen farm. A dedication ceremony was held for the Gosen Memorial Orchard. FarmAmerica is Minnesota's Agricultural Interpretive Center. Its goal is to teach kids about agriculture and rural life in a fun and interesting way.
