A change to the so-called "slayers bill" has passed the Minnesota State Senate this afternoon. The House version of the bill, sponsored by State Rep. Tony Cornish (R-Good Thunder), was driven by a local murder case.

Local business leaders are hoping the Internet can help them attract new businesses.
Greater Mankato Growth has launched a website that provides mapping information to businesses interested in locating to the area. GreaterMankatoProperties.com will use Geographic Information System software.
It will provide information like listings for available buildings, neighborhood demographics, and labor force.
"When businesses and site selectors are looking for a place to build or expand, this is what they want to see on a website for a metropolitan regional center like ours," said Greater Mankato Growth President and CEO Jonathan Zierdt.
Greater Mankato Growth contracted with GIS Planning to implement the new tool on its website.
