MANKATO , MINN. -

Mankato high schools are changing up its concession stand menu. The school will use HyVee's NuVal, a nutritional scoring system to encourage healthier eating.

HyVee Nutritionist April Graff says, "Just a really quick easy way for people to make better choices to trade up for their health so to switch out the 3 of a candy bar to up to maybe a 25 or even a 91 for a banana for instance."

The concessions will also substitute some if it's less healthy items for more nutritious options. Like turkey dogs, and pizzas with whole wheat crusts. Student council taste tested one of the healthier pizzas and gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

In addition to the substitutes and the NuVal score, the healthier items will also be less expensive.

The new concessions will roll out on Thursday, August 23rd, during the school's first volleyball game.
