MANKATO , MINN. -

In downtown Mankato, some businesses lost electrical power this (Thursday) morning.  Mankato Public Safety was called just after eight o'clock to the alley behind 100 Walnut Street.

Deputy Director, Jeff Bengtson, said,"Earlier this morning we had some workers digging in the ground. One of them struck a power line with a jackhammer. There were no injuries fortunately, very fortunately..."

Xcel Energy officials tell KEYC that 48 customers are affected. Xcel crews are working to restore service, but do not know when all 48 customers will have power.
