The campus mall outside the Centennial Student Union was packed as students heading to their fist day of class for the fall semester.
Many freshmen were excited for their independence and to start a new chapter after high school.
MSU freshman Brianna Buth says, "I was really excited but at first I was nervous but everyone was really nice and I can't wait to get to know more people."
MSU Freshman Yannick Attikossie says, "It's definitely fun to be on your own and not have to worry about your parents nagging and stuff."
MSU Freshman Birdjan Haben says, "It's my first day here at Mankato State and I just finished up with my first class. I thought it was really cool. Now heading to my next class and it's a fun adventure just going off to college."
Homecoming for MSU will start September 24 with the Homecoming Parade and Football game held on Saturday, September 29.
