MANKATO, Minn. -

Rasmussen College invites health care professionals from throughout the area to stress the need for Licensed Practical Nurses.

Representatives from nursing homes, clinics and hospitals spoke to dozens of nursing students about the busy hiring process of LPNs and other nurses in order to keep their health care organizations running smoothly.

Ashley Eimer with Rasmussen College says, "We wanted to offer a community event for everyone to hear about the need of LPNs in our community. There's some misconception that there isn't a role, or that the role is going away. Actually, in the Mankato area, it's growing more than ever."

One of the speakers at today's meeting said 40 percent of her staff was 50 or older, meaning there will be a lot of positions to fill in the near future.
