A patient at the Minnesota Security Hospital in St. Peter faces criminal charges for an alleged pattern of violence toward staff back in February.

Michael John Paul faces charges of 2nd and 4th degree assault and terroristic threats for an encounter with hospital staff on February 24th, as well two counts of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of assault for another incident the following day.

A criminal complaint says Paul struck a security councilor on the 24th after asking to be let out of his room, then went back inside.

Staff cleared the area, and an entry team had to subdue him.

A separate case alleges that on the next day, Paul was in a seclusion room when a nurse tried to give him medication through a small window.

He allegedly grabbed her arm and pulled hard.

She broke free with the help of another nurse.

The complaint alleges that Paul told another nurse two days later that he had planned to pull the nurse into his room to sexually assault her, and had put her hand over his clothed groin during the incident.

Paul has a court date set for October 2nd.
