It is an understatement to say the MSU Mavericks football team has had some rough trips of late to Saint Cloud.
The last time the Mavs beat the Huskies in the Granite City was last millennium.
MSU hadn't beat SCSU on their home field since 1999, but tonight the Mavericks were confident they could change that and take back the Travelling Training Kit trophy from the Huskies.
The game would go back and forth with MSU leading 16-14 at halftime following a Jon Wolf to Kyle Riggott touchdown pass. The Huskies would go back in front in the 3rd quarter on a 44 yard T-D from Phillip Klaphake to Chad Peterson, 21-16 SCSU. Jon Wolf would get injured in the 3rd quarter forcing 2nd string Mitch Brozovich to fill in. After the Mavericks recorded a safety late in the 3rd, Brozovich would get MSU back in front late in the 4th with a touchdown pass to Keyvan Rudd with the extra point making it 25-21 Mavericks. The MSU defense would tighten up and keep SCSU from scoring again as MSU wins and brings home the Travelling Training Kit for th first time in five years.
