The Nicollet Raiders are undefeated through four weeks of the football season.
That is extra impressive when you consider they only have three seniors, but one of them is standout wide receiver Evan Guffey, and he's our KEYC Scheels All-Sports Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
Evan Guffey has been fortunate to be with the Nicollet Raiders for their recent trips to the state football tournaments, but after the team graduated 12 seniors last year including quarterback Sean Murphy, the Raiders wide receiver could have wondered if Nicollet would have enough to return once again this year.
Instead Guffey took it upon himself to make sure sophomore QB Tanner Elliott was ready to lead the team.
Guffey hasn't missed a beat in his senior season, with 24 catches for 474 yards and 4 touchdowns.
He has also returned a kick for a score and threw a touchdown last Friday at Cleveland, but it is his breakaway speed that makes him such a threat on the field.
Guffey surpassed the 1,000 career receiving yard mark early this season and now has 20 touchdown catches at the varsity level.
The one big thing missing is a state title, but if he keeps leading the Raiders, that might be there before his final year is over.
That's why he's our KEYC Scheels All-Sports Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
