Two people are in custody accused of taking part in an organized retail theft ring throughout the Midwest. Last Wednesday, 26-year-old Samantha Velez-Diaz and 59-year-old Noe Baldiva-Corral were arrested after trying to steal roughly 5,000 dollars worth of merchandise from the Mankato Walmart. The investigation resulted in recovering close to 14,000 dollars of merchandise stolen from other retail stores across the Midwest. They are both being charged with a 10-year felony for theft. Bail is set at 75,000 dollars for both of them. Their rule eight hearing is set for October 11.
