KEYC-TV to Expand Local News, Adds 5pm Show
KEYC-TV is announcing that it is adding a news program to its weekday lineup. Beginning October 15th, the CBS affiliate will broadcast a local news program at 5pm.
"This is something we believe fits in our role as public servants," said Vice President and General Manager Denny Wahlstrom. "What better way to do that than to give the public what it needs during this time – news and information."
News 12 at 5:00 will have a variety of local and national news, as well as health and entertainment stories. The newscast will also have well-established features from MoneyTalks, Bloomberg News, and local favorite Mr. Food. The newscast will be anchored and produced by Nicole Winters. Breaking new ground at KEYC-TV is nothing new for Ms. Winters. Nicole helped establish The FOX Mankato News at 9:00, and then became part of the first co-anchor team on KEYC-TV in more than two decades.
"I'm ecstatic about this move," said Winters. "I'm thrilled to return to Mankato, and I'm excited to bring a new product to our viewers," she said. Winters returned to KEYC-TV last month after a two-year stint in Sioux Falls. "It's great that I am reunited with this great crew, and it will be fun to work with Mark (Tarello) on-air once again. I will work hard to bring news and information to our viewers in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa."
KEYC-TV is a CBS affiliate serving southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa. In July of 2007, the station launched a second station, FOX Mankato. That station's website, www.keyc.tv, has twice been honored by the Minnesota Associated Press with the "Best Website" award for a small market television station. KEYC-TV has also expanded its mobile presence with apps for the iPad, iPhone, and Google Android platforms.
