A Blue Earth Area School bus driver is facing an assault charge for allegedly slapping a student. According to the criminal complaint 72-year-old Jane Elizabeth Brooks was driving her afternoon route on September 14th when a six-year-old boy began hitting another rider. Brooks asked the child to move seats, the child refused so Brooks physically moved him. Investigators say that child then started kicking students across the isle after moving other children away from him he started spitting on kids. The complaint says that's when Brooks slapped him across the face. Brooks now faces a fifth degree assault charge, which is a misdemeanor. A pre-trial is set for October 15th.
