Minnesota health officials say an outbreak of whooping cough appears to be slowing, but it's still important to keep up on the vaccination.
Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, is at its highest number of cases in the United States in 50 years. The disease can be fatal among infants, so the center for disease control urges adults to get booster shots against whooping cough to prevent the disease from spreading.
Physician's Assistant at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato Jessica Sheehy says, "A lot of the cases unfortunately happen where their grandparents are around there brand new infant grandchildren are grandparent haven't been vaccinated in a number of year, they have the disease and unfortunately spread it."
