With temperatures cooling down, many are turning on their heat. But for some families facing hard times, that isn't always an option.
The crew at Prange's Heating and Air Conditioning installs hundreds of furnaces every year, but the one they installed Saturday was special.
Colleen Lynard says, "We've been praying all summer that somehow we get a furnace in here, been worrying and worrying trying to come up with how I could fix my old one."
Prange's had worked on Lynard's old, unreliable furnace before, and when they heard that Lennox was giving away new high–efficiency furnaces to those in need, they thought of Lynard and her 7 year old grandson.
Lynard says, "Parts have been breaking on a regular bases, I get a new part on it, and another one would break."
Lynard's long time–fiancé recently died, and with some health problems and her grandson to take care off, she couldn't afford to get a new one.
Lynard says, "There just isn't enough money to go around, and I was really scared of winter coming."
But Saturday those fears were put to rest when Prange's employees donated their time to install a new Lennox furnace.
Mike Prange says, "Everybody in Minnesota needs a furnace."
The new Furnace will mean heat for Lynard and piece of mind.
Joan Prange says, "Not having to worry about when the next bill comes by or when are they going to wake up and their furnace isn't working."
It may get cold in Minnesota, but it's made better by the warmth of the people.
Lynard says, "This is just a little miracle for me and Paul."
Free Lennox furnaces where installed for people in need across the state today.
They had hoped to give away 100, but didn't get enough nominees. They aren't taking anymore nominees this year, but if you know someone in need of heat, talk to your local Lennox dealer or go to heatupmn.org
