MANKATO, Minn. -

Employees at the Verizon Wireless Customer Service Center laced up their shoes to help victims of domestic violence.

To help recognize domestic violence awareness month employees showed their support for the cause in a run/walk for Hope. Verizon pledged to donate $20 to CADA for the first 300 employees who signed to walk or run a total of 369 employees signed up, raising $6,000 for the cause.

Director of Customer Service with Verizon Wireless, Joe Hall, says, "This is one of my proudest moments of working for this company knowing that we work alongside people every single day who are committed to helping those that have been impacted by domestic violence."

Last year CADA provided support for more than 16, 650 people in the area, but after losing around 15 percent of their overall budget, the organization says providing service can be tough.

Becky Zacharias with CADA Crime Victim Services says, "Were more in need than ever, but things like what Verizon is doing today really helps out our programs and helps ensure that services are still provided for people that are victims of domestic violence in our area."

The money will be used to support new therapeutic counseling services for adults and youth in the area that have experienced domestic or sexual abuse.
