Nearly 100 schools from Minnesota and the Dakotas taking part in a competition through Sanford Health and the Minnesota Vikings. The winner getting a very special delivery.
Le Sueur Henderson Football team was that lucky winner today.
It started out just as a regular practice on a cold and windy day. Little did they know that practice would be interrupted...big time when all star linebacker Chad Greenway, strong safety, Jamarca Sanford and defensive end Everson Griffen would swing through town.
Vikings Linebacker, Chad Greenway says, "Excited to be down here, I'm sure they'll be excited to get nice new equipment but have a chance to meet some of us should be fun."
Their mission- to express the importance of staying hydrated on and off the field as they personally deliver a state of the art hydration station to this lucky team.
Vikings defensive end, Everson Griffen says, "I just like giving back to the kids giving them the hope and showing them we care about their season and hydration."
While the Vikings cheerleaders weren't on their usual sidelines and this time cheering for the Le Sueur Henderson Giants when moments later the Vikings crew put their practice on hold.
Their prize and meet and great proved to be a morale booster after having a rocky start to this team's season from players who have been there.
Greenway says, "I know so far you're having a rough start but you'll have time to turn it around. We went through this last year with 3-13 and 4-1 feels pretty good!"
It didn't take long hydration station to be put to good use.
And the coach who made this possible knows this will make a difference for the players.
Coach Don Marcussen says, "Provide the hydration on the more regular basis instead of having to share equipment."
A practice these players will always remember.
Noah Hynes Marquette says, "Just a normal day coming out to practice then got to meet the Vikings it was spectacular."
