Nine MSU graduate students are getting money to help earn a degree in social work. The Minnesota Department of Human Services awarded a contract of just over $125,000 thousand dollars to the Master of Social Work program at MSU. The money will establish a graduate-level Child Welfare Program. The stipend was matched by money from two other departments totaling about $249,000. That will allow the nine students to each get $10,000. There are some requirements with receiving the money. Each student must commit to working in the public child welfare setting for each year they receive a stipend.
