MANKATO, Minn. -

Domestic violence awareness month continues throughout our area, this time coming to the MSU campus.

In conjunction with CADA House and several organizations on campus, dozens gathered for a vigil to remember the victims of domestic violence.

Alesha Sullivan says, "So the message is clear - domestic violence must come to an end and we're the ones who are going to stop it."

Alesha and her mother were thrust into THE horrors of domestic violence when their sister and daughter, stepfather and husband, were murdered by an ex-boyfriend in January of 2010.
Ashley and Chet's Law was passed in their honor, and their family continues that fight today.

Anna Gronewald says, "Nobody ever wants to admit that they're in a relationship that is going to turn, or is violent."

The focus is on awareness, and from that awareness, the hope is to stop it before it turns deadly.

Laura Schultz says, "We also try to educate on issues of prevention. Stopping a perpetrator before they commit an act of violence."

And the cause helps them remember, forever.

Anna Gronewald says, "Never a day goes by that I don't think about them and there's very seldom a day that goes by that we don't end up talking about them."
