LCWM's Sami Sorenson Named Prep of the Week.

The Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial volleyball team was tied for first in the Valley Conference entering the week.

News 12 Sports Erick Lind says one of the big reasons is setter Sami Sorenson,

She might only be a sophomore but she is breaking milestones and she's our KEYC Scheels All–Sports Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.

Sami Sorenson got the call up to the LCWM varsity volleyball team in eighth grade and she has started the last two seasons as the team's setter.

Her coach said it was tough for Sorenson as a freshman, but the upperclassmen helped her along, and now she's become outstanding at her position.

Sorenson has been serving well for the Knights, but her main contribution is set assists.

She has over 500 on the year and earlier this season she passed the 1,000 career set mark, something she didn't think would happen until she was a senior.

Although Sorenson is tall for her position at 5 foot ten, her coach says it gives her more ways to utilize the sophomore's talents, but they want to keep her doing what she is most successful at.

Coming into the week, LCWM was 19–6 with three games to go before the playoffs.

Sorenson believes the Knights can go far, and with her setting up the rest of the team, that could very well happen.
