MANKATO, Minn. -

Playfully preserving history. That's the goal of annual History Fest at McGowan Farm in Mankato.

Thousands of kids get a taste it was like in the past from a variety of entertainers and activities ranging from Vikings in the 1100 , to re–enactors of 17th century Scotland and Old West blacksmiths. The interactive event brings what students have learned in the classroom to life.

Executive Director of McGowan Farms Suszi Grudem says, "It's just a really fun day for hands on experience with learning. They get to touch things and feel things and just do things that are fun that they wouldn't get to do anywhere else and I think that gives them an education all on its own."

History Fest has been playfully preserving history for local kids for over 15 years. The public is welcome to come to History Fest on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.
