Artwork on Wine Cafe's Rooftop Creates Buzz

The piece of artwork on Wine Café's rooftop is receiving a lot of positive feedback but the city is saying it needs to come down.

Some may like there martini dry. This one stands 12 feet tall.

Owner of Wine Café Mike Baumann says, "Everybody said it brightens up the area and looks great. Old Town needed something like this it was all positive comments."

The owners of the Wine Café and the creator of the12 foot Martini glass hoisted up all the parts and assembled it on the rooftop, creating this.

Owner of the Wine Café, Mike Baumann says, "Bring some attention to old I have had people come down to the wine café in the past and said that they didn't realize there was a bar here it's just an unnoticed part of town."

However, the city contacted them and says it has to be removed. Under city ordinance business are unable to advertise on their roof. The creator Don Kopp disagrees that it's advertising but doesn't plan to fight back.

Kopp says, "We just want to comply with the city. I don't know what I'd like to do at this point would I like to see it stay up yes, it's fun."

Don says he originally thought about making a palm tree. Hoping they can find a new home the piece of artwork sooner than later.
 
Other North Mankato businesses have told don they are interested in purchasing the giant martini.
