A new Shopko in St. Peter isn't a done deal yet, but the city says it is confident the retailer will start construction in the spring.
The store is planned to be built on an undeveloped parcel of land southeast of Hallett's Pond, about a block west of Highway 169.
The city council is expected to make final agreements and approvals on Monday. The city will have to spend around $700,000 to make improvements to the area, a cost officials say is well worth it.
St. Peter Community Development Director Russ Wille says, "As the community grows, as businesses expand, as more services and options are provided to people it helps the city, they
