Mankato East Soccer Beats SW MN Christian, Gets West Next

Mankato East boys soccer is the 3rd seed in the section 2A tournament, and the Cougars hosted Southwest Minnesota Christian on Friday afternoon.  That was a day before the original schedule, because of storms expected on Saturday.  East got on the board first with a goal from Brandon Sloniker.  The freshman scored again four minutes later, and it would be the game winner, as the Cougars beat the Eagles 3-1.  Mankato East will take on Mankato West in the section semifinal on Tuesday at Dakota Meadows after the Scarlets blanked Willmar 2-0.  Game time for the semifinal is 4 o'clock.  Mankato Loyola took on top seeded Fairmont, and the Cardinals win big 7-0.  The Cards get Saint Peter in the other semifinal after the Saints beat Waseca 2-1 in overtime.
