NEW ULM, Minn. -

Otto's Manager Hugh Carbert doesn't mind seeing the bar a bit slow on Sunday. He's still recovering from how busy the bar was for Oktoberfest the past couple weekends. Carbert says, "We did have a lot of people; both of our sides of our restaurants were full for extended hours for a long time."

Tons of people visited the German Bar Otto's over the past two weekends for its German food and a bit of beer. Carbert says, "We poured a lot of Schell's, but there were all types of drinks that we did sell."

Mixing beer and big crowds often brings big trouble, but New Ulm Police say Oktoberfest is about as busy as any other weekend. New Ulm Sergeant Steve Depew, "We don't have a lot of calls that deal directly with Oktoberfest."

Depew says, New Ulm's Oktoberfest attracts plenty of people, but the crowds are a bit more mature and tend to be fairly responsible. But Carbert thinks it has more to do with a new trend in Oktoberfest. Carbert says, "It is becoming more an increasingly family event there's people that come an enjoy themselves there's people from all over the country."
