MANKATO , MINN. -

Minnesota State Patrol is beefing up DWI enforcement this Halloween weekend. Minnesota State Patrol Captain Lori Hodapp says, "I think its really easy for people to get into the spirit of Halloween and to just maybe get a little carried away but it really is no different from new years eve, Christmas, or Thanksgiving. Just because you're in costume doesn't give you any magical power or make you someone you're not."

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety also released a Halloween PSA on drinking and driving. In the past five years, drunk driving has contributed to seven deaths and 24 serious injuries during Halloween celebrations. State Patrol is also reminding people to buckle up. Hodapp says, people often forget to buckle up when wearing a costume.
