The winner of a local-pumpkin carving contest was announced on Sunday.
About a dozen Jack-O-Lanterns were submitted to Welsh Heritage Farms near Lake Crystal. The judging team looked at originality and creativity in each pumpkin.
This is the first time the business has hosted the contest, and spokespeople say it adds a nice touch to the festivities around Halloween.
"We really enjoy being able to do it," said Pam Harbo of Welsh Family Farms.
Amber O'Donnell of North Mankato won the contest--securing a certificate and $100. The 10-year-old carved a pumpkin depicting a unicorn.
