
The MSU men's basketball team took on the University of Minnesota last Thursday.
Sunday it was the Maverick women taking on the Golden Gophers at Williams Arena in an exhibition game. The Gophers outscored the Mavs 41-28 in the first half, but MSU actually outscored Minnesota in the final twenty minutes 28-25, but the Gophers win 66-56. The Mavericks were led by a healthy Ali Wilkinson who recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Ashley Olson from Blue Earth was the only other MSU player scoring in double figures with 12 points.
The MSU men played their 2nd exhibition game against a division one opponent on Sunday as well, with the Mavericks traveling to Iowa State. MSU was led by Zach Monaghan's 14 points with Assem Marei chipping in 11, but the Cyclones defend their home court with five players finishing with double digit points to win 90-57. MSU opens their regular schedule November 10th, hosting Bethany Lutheran College at 6 o'clock.
