Absentee Voting Up in Minnesota

Posted: Updated:

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie he expects about 300,000 absentee ballots to be counted on Election Day after more than 235,000 absentee ballots were accepted by Monday morning.

In Nicollet County, officials say absentee voting is up 18 to 20 percent over 2008.

‘So that means we've had quite an increase in turnout here at the Government Center, which is great,' says Auditor-Treasurer Bridgette Kennedy. ‘But I think that speaks more importantly to the issues and the candidates involved here this time.'

Absentee voting wrapped up at 5 p.m. Monday.
