MANKATO , MINN. -

In the rematch between Charlie Hurd and Jason Mattick, Mattick received 52 percent of the votes vs. Hurd's 48 percent. Hurd has been councilman since 2006 after the then incumbent John Brady was elected Mayor. In 2008 Mattick challenged Hurd and lost by a close margin of just under 200 votes.

Ward 4 grew significantly due to redistricting mostly in an area near MSU. Ward 4 covers central Mankato including the downtown area. Mattick says the voters were ready for a change and that he hopes to bring a fair and balanced point of view to the council.
