MANKATO, Minn. -

The Mankato city council will have some new faces after two log–time members lose in upsets.

For the at–large seat, Chris Frederick defeated 3–term incumbent Mike Laven. In the fourth Ward, Jason Mattick beat out Charlie Hurd, who had been on the council since 2006.

Long time council member Mark Frost says while it will be different; he always welcomes new blood on the council.

Councilman Mark Frost says, "I thought about bringing up a term limits bill so that we continually get new blood on the council, new thought processes, Mankato is a very well managed city, I think people are generally very happy, but this is part of the democratic process."

Frost says joining the council will be challenging for the newcomers.

With a number of on–going project and decisions about taxation on the council's agenda they will have to catch up quickly.
