BLUE EARTH COUNTY -

A Mankato man facing 10 felony counts for alleged assault and kidnapping has reached a plea deal. Back in July, authorities say Dustin Lee Murilla tied another person up, and tried to force the victim's undergarments down the man's throat using a tire iron. According to court records, Murrilla will have nine of the 10 felony charges against him dropped. "You can only be sentenced on one crime that's an ongoing course of conduct. So if you assault someone, kidnap them, try to kill them, even if you go to trial and you're found guilty on all those, since it's the same course of conduct-you can only be sentenced on one of those crimes." Officials say Murilla will be sentenced on one count of attempted second-degree murder. That hearing will take place on January Eighth at Nine A-M in Blue Earth County.
