A sad end to an exciting deer hunt for an area man.

The Waseca County Sheriff's office responded to the call of a man found dead around 2:30 Thursday afternoon south of Waseca.

Authorities say the victim's wife became concerned when he didn't return home from a morning hunt.

Officials say the man's wife found him dead in his tree stand, apparently from a medical condition.

Investigators say not far from the tree stand, they found an 11-point buck shot to death.

Authorities aren't naming the victim until all relatives can be notified.

The Waseca County Sheriff's office along with Waseca Fire and North Ambulance responded to the scene.
