Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's Season Ended By B.A. In State Qtrfinal

Posted: Updated:

Friday was a rough night on our area high schools in the state football tournaments seeing Jackson County Central as the only team out of five to advance to the semifinal round at the Metrodome.
Tonight, two more were giving it a try with Blue Earth Area in 3A and Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's in single-A.
The Knights were down at Rochester Community and Technical College taking on Faribault B-A.
The Cardinals scored first as senior superstar Kyle Filzen hits Mark Mahowald who got into the endzone for the 7-0 lead.  St. Mary's responded with a Jordan Anderson touchdown run, but the two point conversion was denied to keep Bethlehem Academy in front.  The Cards scored two more times before the Knights found the endzone again, and it would the last time, as Faribault B.A. eliminates St. Mary's 43-12.
