The MSU football team completed their perfect regular season on Saturday with a 70-7 rout of Upper Iowa.
Sunday afternoon there was still some tension as the team waited to see where their 11-0 record would land them in the Division Two playoffs.
The Mavericks gathered at the downtown Buffalo Wild Wings in Mankato for a viewing party as the brackets were released on the NCAA website.
Some Internet issues kept the MSU players and fans in suspense, but was remedied just in time to see the host of the program announce that the Mavs are the number one seed in Super Region number three.
After much elation, acting head coach Aaron Keen and a few of his players spoke about what it means to land the top spot.
Here is how super region three looks for the top seeded Mavericks.
MSU will get a first round bye and host the winner of the Harding versus Northwest Missouri State the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
On the other side of the super region, undefeated Henderson State got the two seed and will wait to host the winner of the game between NSIC member and 2010 national champion Minnesota Duluth who travels to Missouri Western State.
Kickoff for both the first round games are noon this Saturday.
