MANKATO, Minn. -
It's that time of year...when bell–ringing volunteers raise money for the Salvation Army. News 12's Maureen McKamey takes us to tonight's red kettle kickoff.
Captain Mike Parker says the annual Red Kettle Kickoff event involved warm chili and hot chocolate, holiday music and words from Mankato Mayor Eric Anderson. He says he hopes people make an effort to volunteer and donate this holiday season because many people need the support the Salvation Army provides.
The official bell-ringing season starts November 14th and will run through December 24th. The goal is to raise $275,000.
