FAIRMONT, Minn. -

Parents are heading back to school to wrap their heads around new math methods their middle school students are learning.  Fairmont math teacher Tyler Brackey says instead of carrying numbers like many of us learned, students instead use a method called lattice, where they group numbers. Because this method is new to parents he's holding a special math class once a month to teach them the new process. Brackey says, "Things have changed they've become quicker they've become more efficient and this is just us responding and keeping up."

Brackey says parents are his most valuable resource, because they spend the most time with his students.
