Washington, D.C. -
David Petraeus is out of a job at the CIA, but will testify about the deadly attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Before he handed in his resignation - he had been scheduled to appear at hearings this week. The details of the new hearings are being worked out.
President Obama faced questions about the scandal that forced Petraeus to step down at a news conference today.
The widening investigation is now jeopardizing General John Allen's future.
The Pentagon is looking at emails he exchanged with Tampa socialite Jill Kelley. Sources describe them as "potentially inappropriate" and "flirtatious".
Former Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard Myers said, "These allegations are shocking to everyone who knows General Allen."
Both the White House and lawmakers continue to express confidence in Allen's leadership of US troops in Afghanistan - this, while his promotion to become NATO's top general is on hold.
During an appearance on CBS This Morning, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said, " General Allen he has said, not done anything improper. I think he deserves the benefit of an investigation that is going on now which I hope will be concluded soon."
One anonymous email from several months ago warned Allen to stay away from Kelley. Sources say the email came from Paula Broadwell - the mistress of David Petraeus.
In her email to Allen, Broadwell warned that Kelley was "a seductress".
Both General Allen and Jill Kelley say they did not have an inappropriate relationship and have done nothing wrong.
