FARIBAULT, MInn. -

Another former teacher at a private school in Faribault is facing charges of sexual abuse - this one dating back more than 30 years.

The Faribault Police Department says Joseph Machlitt, 63, appeared in a Rice County Courtroom today where his bail was set at $50,000 with conditions. He's facing one count each of Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and one count of Fourth Degree Attempted Criminal Sexual Conduct.

Authorities say it happened during the summer of 1980. Machlitt was working as an art and photography teacher at the school when investigators say he assaulted a 14 year–old boy. Investigators believe there is at least one more student victim out there. However, authorities do not believe anyone with Shattuck–Saint Mary's was aware of the alleged incident.

Faribault Police Chief Don Gudmundson says a 46 year–old Minnesota man came forward after seeing abuse allegations leveled against a different teacher at Shattuck–Saint Mary's. That teacher was Lynn Seibel. He was charged last month with sexually abusing several former students.

The charges against Machlitt have a maximum sentence of ten years and two and a half years.
